The E-Museum portal — a national digital platform unifying state museum collections across Kazakhstan, has been presented in Astana. To date, 252 museums from 20 regions of the country have already joined the platform.
The portal’s digital catalogue includes more than 66,000 exhibits. In addition, 750 3D models have been created, and 15 virtual tours of exhibition halls in Kazakhstan’s largest museums are now available to users.
The digitalization of museums aims to preserve national heritage and expand access to cultural assets for both citizens and international audiences, said Aida Balayeva, Minister of Culture and Information of Kazakhstan. According to her, in the era of globalization, digital solutions have become one of the most important tools for promoting culture and preserving historical memory.
Today, the collections of republican and regional museums of Kazakhstan contain more than 4.5 million exhibits. The launch of the E-Museum portal will make it possible to explore these extensive museum collections remotely and is expected to increase interest in Kazakhstan’s cultural heritage among researchers, educational institutions, and tourists.

The project is being implemented in stages and is based on domestic Kazakhstani developments. According to the developers, the platform integrates AI-powered tools, and one of its key outcomes will be expanded access to museum collections — including for people with disabilities.
