Pavel Durov, the founder of Telegram, announced the opening of a new artificial intelligence laboratory in Kazakhstan during the Digital Bridge 2025 forum in Astana. The laboratory is located in the Alem.ai building, underscoring the growing importance of Kazakhstan’s technological landscape.

According to Durov, the laboratory’s first project is a collaboration between Telegram and Kazakhstan’s supercomputer cluster, launched by the Ministry of Artificial Intelligence. The new system is designed to enable people to use AI functions confidentially, transparently, and efficiently.

Durov also emphasized that Kazakhstan’s supercomputer cluster will become a key supplier of computing power for the network. Through the combination of blockchain and AI technologies, the system is expected to remain decentralized and privacy-oriented.

Alem.ai, the specialized center where the laboratory is based, was established as a global platform for research and startup development. Its mission is to advance AI solutions and spark a new wave of technological and economic growth. Astana aims to become the intellectual hub of the Central Asian region in the future.
