The young Kazakhstani startup Aleem, an AI-powered English-learning app, has topped the App Store downloads chart in Kazakhstan, surpassing Duolingo.

Aleem has also climbed the rankings in neighboring countries: it is ranked first in Kyrgyzstan, second in Tajikistan, and sixth in Turkmenistan. In Uzbekistan and Russia, the app entered the top 10 and top 20, respectively.

The developers emphasize that they achieved this without investments, without a large marketing campaign, and without a big team — relying solely on their belief in the idea. What began as a small experiment to create a smart AI tool for learning English has now become one of the most popular edtech apps in the region.

The app is free and helps users practice speaking, writing, and vocabulary. The creators now have a new goal — to reach the top globally. The team continues improving the product, adding new features, and bringing in new experts. To date, the application has been downloaded by 600,000 users.
